Following weeks of rumors, Warzone developers have confirmed that one quality-of-life loot feature will finally return when Season 3 drops.
The loot system in Call of Duty: Warzone has undergone multiple overhauls since the game arrived in 2019. Floor loot used to float several inches off the ground, making it easy for players to spot and grab items quickly.
A divisive backpack system entered the fray in Warzone 2, then received further iterations to include floating floor loot. Backpacks were removed completely in late 2024 but, instead of floating as they had previously, all loot items fell to the ground.

In February 2025, leaked details claimed floating ground loot would return in a forthcoming Warzone update. To the delight of Call of Duty players, Activision has officially confirmed as much.

Responses to the post are filled with COD fans calling the floating loot change a “W.”
“Floating loot = HUGE W,” replied one person in the comments. Content creator TDAWG chimed in and said, “Call of Duty is back!”
Similar sentiments have been voiced in the Warzone subreddit, with some fans even pointing out how much better the game looks in the new screenshot.
Reads one such comment, “Finally a screenshot in-game. The aesthetics look the same as wz1! No more flat lighting and smooth graphic styles of bo6. We might be back.”
